Situated east of Santa Barbara and northwest of Ventura, Carpinteria is the quintessential small beach town. Carp, as locals call it, is home to the World’s Safest Beach, located right off Linden Avenue near the downtown area. Great restaurants and boutiques line Linden Avenue, where locals can be seen riding bikes along the quiet streets or enjoying a beautiful sunset over the crashing waves. With natural bluffs, an aviary preserve, hiking trails and beautiful beaches, there is a lot of nature to enjoy in this small town. Rincon Beach, a premier surf destination is a prominent landmark in Carp. This laid back and family-oriented beach town has one high school and middle school, and four elementary schools. If there isn’t any traffic, Carpinteria is about a ten minute drive from nearby Summerland and Montecito, and a fifteen minute drive to downtown Santa Barbara. Carpinteria real estate is known for being a little more affordable, comparatively, while still being on the coast and a quick commute to all that Santa Barbara has to offer.

The city of Carpinteria is served by the Carpinteria Unified School District. It includes one high school, one middle (junior high) school, and three public elementary schools, one of which is an alternative school (K-6). The district also has an alternative high school.
