Santa Barbara County Economic Summit 2017 Program

Happy May everybody! It’s hard to believe summer is right around the corner. Just last week, we attended the Santa Barbara County Economic Summit 2017 program held at the Granada Theater. Sponsored by UCSB Economic Forecast Project, speakers included Esther George, the President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, Tim Kehoe, Professor of Economics, University of Minnesota, Palos Holman, Inventor, Intellectual Ventures Laboratory and a number of other speakers. The program was very informative. In summary, while the Federal Reserve is set to raise rates at least twice before the end of the year, it is their opinion that the market will stay strong for the foreseeable future. We have now had 94 consecutive months of growth with unemployment going from 10% down to 4.4% over the past nearly 8 years. The labor market is strong and household savings have increased. What this means for us in real estate is that it appears that we will have a steady growth and those properties that are properly priced should sell rather quickly.
